Not All Angels Fly...You Could Be One! - Joseph Annamkutty Jose
Not All Angels Fly, as the title suggests, is a book full of stories about the human angels who have come across the author’s life. If we look deeper into our own lives, we will also find many angels who have gone unnoticed and unacknowledged. Every human holds a story in a unique way—that is the very essence of our existence. The author has exceptionally described the journey of his life through many such stories.
The author’s earlier book, Buried Thoughts, also takes a deep look into the people who are often missed or forgotten in life. Forgetting and missing out on people is something that happens easily to all humans. It’s not something to blame, as life takes different turns, things get busy, and many memories get buried deep down in life. But have we taken the time to look closely and find these angels? We may easily say there are no angels in life, but if we sit quietly with our thoughts, that is exactly what will come to light.
This book is the author’s call not to search for angels in heaven, but to recognize that these angels are living among us, healing us and helping us grow every day. Although the sole ownership of the book belongs to Joseph, I would like to thank Hrishikesh Mundani for his efforts in translating the book into English. Most translations tend to lose some emotional depth, but Hrishikesh has played a major role in carrying the emotions throughout the book.
Personal Reflection
And again, he touched the pen, and with all curiosity, I was trying to translate the book through my friends since 2019, as my literacy in Malayalam only goes as far as listening and speaking. I was truly happy when it was finally translated and released in English, as there was no need for a mediator anymore. Joseph plays a crucial role in my reading journey. The video he posted on reading habits has had a big impact since 2020, and it continues to inspire me. The idea, the content, and the way he explores emotions create a deeper picture. The book takes you through the full spectrum of human emotions. Even today, humans have evolved in many aspects, but nothing has changed when it comes to emotions. Human emotions play a crucial role in our daily lives, and above all, love stands tall in everything we do. There are many books that have been on my reading list for a long time, but as soon as Deivanthinte Charanmar (Not All Angels Fly) was released, I put everything else aside and completed it in no time. That’s the kind of love that pushes you to read—or do anything—with complete focus and passion.
Joseph’s writing holds a deeper sense of preaching, advising, advocating, and guiding, all shared through simple, relatable stories. Since childhood, stories have been the only medium I truly connect with. As soon as someone starts telling a story, I become eager to listen. Please don’t mistake me for saying too much about this book; the personal connection I feel with it encourages me to write more. In this long journey of reading, how could I ever miss his books? This one also stands at the top, as many of its chapters will deeply resonate with us. Holding the book close to my heart, I believe every boy should read it, as it offers life lessons that many often overlook.
“Many people have come into my life. Those who touched me, those who inspired me to become a better human being—I call them the 'spies of God'.”
